Well I’ve done it. This week I’ve got my new website/blog ready, ordered new business cards and updated profiles on places like Linked In. You can have a look at the site at www.growinginsights.co.uk.
I’ve been thinking about whether I need to have a personal blog as well as the work blog. Many of the observations I’ll be making could sit on either. But then I thought, actually there might be things that don’t fit with the work side of things – like talking about why I’ve chosen to read certain books. So I’ll keep this one going as well for the moment.
On the book front, I have nothing to report because I seem to have been catching up on weeks of Saturday newspaper sections. Nearly there though. Might need to avoid buying tomorrow’s copy….
Congratulations!
And wow. You move fast.
I know a lot of people who have two blogs and have experimented with what goes where. The overwhelming majority have found it draining to keep two going and have opted for just one in the end.
And then after having only one, liked having their whole identity in one place.
One said she actually got business because people got to know her better and liked knowing she was more than one dimensional.
You could always have a more personal category on the work one titled accordingly, ‘slightly more personal’ or similar.
I have been having the same thoughts – but for me it is a question of a blog that sits on my Grammartogo website (a bit restrictive for content) and another that will pull together all my business ventures and ideas and those of my business partner. Why keep the Grammar to Go blog going. I probably won’t in the longer term but for now it is the one with the following. I really like your style – it has been inspiring me.
Hello Jane
Good to hear from you. I’m glad my style is inspiring because being inspiring is one of the things I aim for in life! I had another look at your blog. Is there anyway of subscribing to it? I couldn’t see an RSS Feed or similar. I had the same issue when I used to be focused on the training/coaching side. I felt what I blogged on that site had to be directly relevant to what I offered clients. I wonder if there’s a way you could blog in one place and then choose to have only relevant posts feed through into your Grammar to Go blog at a click of a button. That would seem to be the most efficient route.
I’m still using this blog, I just haven’t got round to adding the books I’ve read recently! It is on my list though.
I’m enjoying my new blog. Putting photos on is fun – especially since taking them is another of my ways of enjoying myself. So now the challenge is to let the blogs inspire the pictures – or the other way round.
Hi Jane
Yes, I’ve started reading your new blog but haven’t been able to give it proper attention so far. I agree, adding your own photos makes it more interesting. I’ll try to get over there some time soon and make a few comments.
